Ray Williams
Founder
Ray was born in Columbus, GA, graduated from Henderson High School in Atlanta and from Georgia State University.
Ray is married to Sue Ellen Williams and between them they have 4 children and 10 grandchildren.
Ray began his insurance career in 1972 at the Raymond S Williams Agency. In 1995 the name was changed to Williams, Turner & Mathis, Inc. In 2021 Williams, Turner and Mathis became a branch of Biltmore Insurance and are part of Watkins Industries.
In 1995 Ray founded Shared Agency Services, LLC. SAS is an Insurance Agency Network and was started with 42 Georgia Agencies forming a cooperative with each owning 2 shares of the LLC. In 2012 SAS rebranded to SecureRisk. Over the years the Co-op expanded into other Southeastern states and is listed as the 8th largest Agency Partnership in the US based on Insurance Journal September 2, 2024. Ray was CEO until January 2021 When he became Founder/Chairman.
During his career he has been active with the Independent Insurance Agents of Georgia and the parent association IIABA. He had the privilege to serve as Chairman of the GA Young Agents in 1983-84, was president of the DeKalb Association in 1981-82 and has served on the GA board in various positions over the years. He was awarded “The Past Presidents” award for service to the association in 2002 and “The Edgar Dunlap Award” for outstanding community service in 2007.
Ray is an Accredited Adviser in Insurance and an Associate in Risk Management.
In community service Ray has been active in Georgia Kiwanis since 1977 and has held many offices including Lt. Governor, Club President, and is currently Club Secretary and Treasurer of The Druid Hills Kiwanis Club.
Ray went through Leadership DeKalb in 1990. He was active for many years with the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce where he served on their board for seven years.
